We believe there are a host of reasons to choose Silverdale School.

  • Excellent results: GCSE and A-level results are consistently well above the local and national averages. In recent years we have achieved some of the best results in Sheffield and across the whole of South Yorkshire!
  • A broad and balanced curriculum: a great mix of academic, creative, practical and sporting subjects for all students. Our staff work hard to make lessons fun and engaging, often linking with outside organisations or organising trips, to bring their subjects to life.
  • Exemplary pastoral support: each year group is supported by an experienced pastoral team. Each key stage offers bespoke interventions and support for students, as well as monitoring academic progress and achievements.
  • Emotional health and wellbeing: we have invested in training for staff covering issues such as restorative justice, mental health, LGBT support and crisis management. Our Learning and Student Support teams help our students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Committed and talented staff: our teachers are specialists in the subjects they teach and are supported by the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub, which provides initial teacher training and online professional development for teachers in our region. Many of our experienced staff also train other teachers across the region.
  • No-one left behind: we provide specialist support to improve outcomes for all students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our expert teachers ensure all students are supported in the classroom to achieve their potential. They work alongside our pastoral, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), wellbeing and safeguarding teams to ensure all students progress academically and socially. The school also houses an integrated resource for deaf students.
  • A diverse and welcoming community: our school community is exceptionally diverse. Silverdale students speak dozens of different languages, and the cultural diversity of our student and staff communities is celebrated throughout the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • Exceptional Sixth Form: Silverdale Sixth Form students regularly achieve some of the best results of state schools and colleges in Sheffield. Many of our students go on to study at Russell Group universities, some go to Oxbridge universities and others move into apprenticeships with excellent companies. Students can choose from over 20 courses to progress in their next steps.
  • Extracurricular activities: we run regular trips abroad to support language learning and sporting development, the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, and subject specific trips to enhance learning opportunities. We have numerous lunchtime and after-school clubs on offer to all year groups, as well as regular events such as our Masterchef and inter-form competitions.
