Silverdale School Sixth Formers celebrate A-level results

There was a great deal of celebration today at Silverdale Sixth Form as students opened their A-level and BTEC Level 3 exam results.

Silverdale’s enlarged Sixth Form has plenty to celebrate as its students have earned an exceptional set of results, equalling the school’s best ever pre-pandemic years.

Highlights across Silverdale Sixth Form’s class of 2024 include a 99.7% pass rate with 83.3% of results achieving grades between A*-C. 38.9% of the grades awarded were A* or A with four students opening their results envelopes to see 3 A* grades. 73 students progress to their next step with grades of AAB or better.

This has been a phenomenal year for many of the subjects taught at the school, from science and maths to creative to vocational. Of particular note are the Sixth Form linguists, who succeeded in achieving an ‘A’ average grade in both A-level French and A-level Spanish. The extended project qualification (EPQ), taken by a number of students in addition to A-levels, has also seen many successes with 78% of results graded A*-A.

The overwhelming majority of Silverdale students now head out for their first-choice destination. All students to have received offers to study medicine, or for an Oxbridge place, have been successful. Silverdale students are moving on to universities across the country, from Aberdeen to Portsmouth and Aberystwyth to East Anglia, with the likes of Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and, of course, Sheffield in between. A number of students have secured apprenticeships including a prestigious position at JP Morgan in Bournemouth.

Science, technology, engineering and maths subjects are popular choices for Silverdale students, as well as a substantial number of students going on to study law, psychology and sports science.

Head of Silverdale School, Sarah Sims, said: “We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form students who have worked hard to produce an amazing set of results. They are now reaping the rewards of their efforts and can be excited about the future as they head off to their chosen university or career.

“Throughout their time at Silverdale Sixth Form, last year in our newly expanded Sixth Form facilities, students have had the unwavering support, expertise and guidance of their teachers and Sixth Form staff. Our students have responded with a wonderful set of results!

“I and the Silverdale staff have benefitted from working with these inspirational young people who, we are sure, will go on to make their positive mark in the world. We wish them the best of luck in their undoubtedly bright futures.”
